One more post for today guys. My project, Lifeless Addiction. Deathcore. I don't really know who to compare it too, but I think it's pretty damn heavy. I'd give it a listen, if I were me. Hey, look at that!

There's another EP on the Bandcamp, but it's recorded pretty badly. The songs are good, but it doesn't sound so good.

Hey guys. Soooo, I've been really busy with a bunch of projects this past week, which is why I haven't posted much. So I figured I'd post some of the stuff I'm doing. Deal with it. If you don't like it, leave. I don't want you here anyways.

So this is an album of ambient noise music. If you want to call it music. There's not much in terms of beat or rhythm. What I really try to accomplish when I make this stuff is to make the listener feel uneasy, or just a little off. It never really gets very harsh sounding, but it always maintains an air of creepy uncertainty.
Or so I try to convey. I don't know how well I actually pull this off. Any feedback would be appreciated, if you guys have any.

Incommendatus - "Ignominiam"

Artist: Incommendatus
Album: Ignominiam
Genre: Brutal Technical Death Metal
Country: Nevada, USA
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/incommendatus

1. Ignominiam

Alright, so I'm not an huge fan of technical death metal. In fact, I'm generally not a fan of technical music. It's usually so soulless and lifeless, and boring. I mean, yeah, we get it. You can shred for forty minutes and call it an album. While I'm generously using hyperbole, I just haven't found many bands in the genre that kick ass in a way that goes beyond the realm of simply being technically proficient.

So I'm a huuuuge fan of Incommendatus.

The fairly new project from Joe Broad(Ex-Disfiguring The Goddess) has everything most fans of the genre would like. Amazing technicality, and brutality that's off the hizzle. So why does Incommendatus stand out to me, among all the other tech death bands? To be honest, I'm barely sure.
It's not boring. His songs(of which he's only released two, but hey, they're badass) sound well thought out, and planned. A lot of bands in this genre just seem to go into songs trying to induce arthritis, but there's more than that in these songs. Riffs, while technical and heavy, are memorable, and oddly catchy. The solos will shred your face off, but are still emotive, and rarely sound like mindless noodling.

So while I'm still not sure as to why I like this so much, I'm going to guess that it's as simple as the entertainment of the music. In a genre that's completely over saturated with shitty bands using the same tactics, Incommendatus is a breath of fresh air. The playing is impressive, but also approachable. As I said before, everything from this project so far has sounded well thought out, and has been executed very well.

Overall, I'd compare Incommendatus to Necrophagist, if Necrophagist was more fun to listen to. Seriously, this guy can shred, and write good death metal songs.
Why does he only have a couple hundred fans on Facebook? Especially when his ex-band DTG has like 20,000.
Buy his music.
Buy a shirt from him(I did).
And just give him a like on Facebook. This stuff is way more deserving of your attention than 95% of death metal bands out there.

Each one of their albums just inspires me, and reminds me that there are some musicians in the world that are just so talented and creative, that everyone else should just give up and go watch a movie or something. I'd like to write a review of this album, but there is nothing negative to say, and it would just be me gushing about how God damn amazing this band is. Cumbeast - "Human Piñata"

Artist: Cumbeast
Album: Human Piñata
Genre: Pornogrind
Country: Finland
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cumbeast-Official/107315735974105

1. The Ancient Cumbeast
2. Fisting The Whore
3. Foreskin Eater
4. Strangled With A Dreadlock
5. Hostile Ape Posse
6. Back Alley Bludgeonment
7. Pre-Burial Pope Molestation
8. Raping Santa
9. Bum Basher

Alright. So when you see the name Cumbeast, it probably won't inspire you to think, "Hey, this sounds like a quality band, with classy music." Well, you'd be wrong.
About the quality of the band. No one's going to try to argue that this is classy music by any means. However, it's God damn awesome music. In fact, this is the album that got me into heavy music. If it wasn't for Cumbeast, I'd still be listening to Korn and Slipknot, wishing I knew of heavier stuff.

Right off the bat, you're being slammed in the face by intense blast bleats, and guttural vocals. While this is awesome, it's nothing new. So how do these guys pull it off so well?
Well, first off, I think their singer's an actual pig-demon. I've never heard vocals as low as these. It's just silly almost, but brutal as hell. Next thing Cumbeast does wonderfully would be groove. Rarely in this genre do you ever feel like you can actually dig into a song, and have fun listening to it. But every song on this album has grooves that'll put you into a stupor. The awesome blend of funky groove and slamming death metal truly makes this a unique album. And while other bands in the genre than Cumbeast implement grooves, nothing as groovy as this. It's like Pantera and Devourment got it on.

Another welcome characteristic of the album is a fairly clean production style, something which seems to escape the capabilities(for whatever reasons) of most bands. Each instrument is defined well, and arranged well. Guitar parts are in your face, ranging from high-speed death metal obliteration, to groove-laced rhythms that really set the bar higher for every kind of music. The drums are precise, and pounding, truly complimenting the heavy and funky nature of everything else going on. These guys have taken a genre I rarely can get excited about, and injected it with a sense of rhythm and brutality that can't be beat.

Man, those vocals. I don't even.

If you're into metal of any kind, I'd highly recommend this album. Be wary of the vocals however, as they are quite extreme. And as with any pornogrind band, don't expect the music to be anything but lighthearted. Fortunately, this lighter approach to the music just adds a sense of excitement and energy to each song. Truly, Cumbeast sticks out above just about every other band in the genre as a group of highly-skilled and innovative song-writer's and musicians.

Song-writing? In pornogrind? My God, how even... These guys have a second album out as well, "Gourmet Of Ill Shit", which slams just as hard and heavy. I can't wait to see what comes from these guys in the future.

Obsek - "Traumatic Experiment"

Artist: Obsek
Album: Traumatic Experiment
Genre: Metalcore
Country: Quebec. In Canada or something.
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Obsek/61640887531

1. Toward Another Dimension
2. The Missing Element
3. Toadstool
4. Twisted
5. Then, I Relapse
6. Till The Last Drop
7. Thus Falls The Curtain
8. Temptacles
9. This One Doesn't Start With A 'T' (Jean Coutu)

I'm having a hard time putting this into words. Anyone out there in a deathcore/metalcore band should listen to this album. Obsek makes some seriously good tunes. Blending together heavy and melody perfectly, these guys have crafted one hell of an album.

This isn't your standard deathcore breakdown-factory. The musicianship in these songs is quite astounding. From well placed guitar solos and leads, to crushing rhythms and destructive drums, these guys like to show off their skills. And they should. Guitar parts are interesting, and work well with each other. Transitions in songs are constructed wonderfully. And it's heavy. My geez, this thing is heavy. Not even always in a slummy, brutal kind of way. More like the heaviness that comes from epic-sounding instrumentals, and a general fast-paced approach to all things metal.

Obsek has struck quite a nice balance with this album. Although certain parts can drag on for quite some time, songs are memorable, and rarely sound the same, all while keeping the same melodic vibe and heaviness. Guitars complement each other perfectly in terms of rhythm and lead, and the demonic vocals help add to the sense of epic. Basically, it's hard to describe exactly how good this album is, or how much it rips through my persona. I can't wait to see what these guys come up with in the future.

To recap, this is a great album. Anyone who likes any kind of "core" will find something to like about this album, and I especially recommend this as a listen for anyone in a deathcore/metalcore band. Obsek have created a truly unique masterpiece in the genre, and I wish these guys could get some more recognition as the musical awesomesauce they are.

My favorite songs off this album are "Then, I Relapse" and "Till The Last Drop". Sooooooooooooooooooo geeewwwwwd.

The Jonbenét - "The Plot Thickens

Artist: The Jonbenét
Album: The Plot Thickens
Genre: Mathcore
Country: Texas, USA
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/thejonbenet

1. Eating Lightning Pt. 1
2. Dramarama
3. Behold, the White Whore
4. Eleventh Century Folklore
5. Trophy Wives
6. Stolen Home
7. Scratch The Roman Numerals
8. Bartleby

Well, of course I'd find out that this band has split up while I made this post. This is really unfortunate, because The Jonbenét are some crazily talented dudes.

I think I can say that is one of the only, if not the only, catchy mathcore albums I've ever heard. These guys combine a weird amount of imagination with their technical chops . Songs switch frantically from heavy, funky, grinding sections to clean, poppy, listenable-to-the-average-person melodies. The clean vocals used by these guys is tasteful, and fits in very well with the flow of the songs, which is something few metal bands can accomplish.
While the heavy and grindy parts in this album are indeed grindy and heavy, songs remain memorable and fun to listen to, unlike many bands in this genre. Never are you listening to a plain old shredfest, or a riff that hurts your head to process. The guitar parts in this album are fun, creative, solid, and loud.
Overall, these guys have a great idea of how to write songs that really stick with the listener, and an even greater grasp on how to arrange these songs.

The Jonbenét pushes conventional thinking about how genres should stay separate straight off the roof, and watches this thinking die before their eyes. At times, you're listening to an indie rock passage, and then are thrust into a mathey breakdown. Interesting production choices really compliment these shifts, and make every part pop in it's own way. This melding of genres also means that every song is different, while combining the best of crazy, and the best of mellow.

If you're looking for a fresher, funky approach to mathcore, check these guys out, and buy some music from them. Convince them they need to get back together.
If you're looking for straightforward grind, or fretboard acrobatics, this probably isn't for you, and the cleaner, whiner vocal style may turn some people off, but there's no denying that these guys have(had...) a ridiculous amount of talent as musicians.
