Deformed Elephant Surgery is back from his two or three days of rest and writing with his hardest to pronounce album yet. Seriously, I have three DES releases in my iTunes from 2012 alone, and it's only April. Plus, look at that album title. It's a hoot. Anyway, he is certainly fine tuning his craft. Even with 14 tracks totaling 44 minutes, these songs do not lose your attention. The quick transitions to and from metal breakdowns, overly happy and slightly disturbing synthpop melodies, and dubstep breaks are much more refined, structured, and don't grow into something you expect. Each riff varies from the last. Plus, the buildups-drops fucking rule and can stand up next to famed EDM producers. The vocals, for those of you who don't know, range from falsetto singing, cartoon raised-pitch sounds, to slamgore guttural growls. Despite all the chaotic noise pounding your head, all the sounds are very bright and clear. Either there are high-quality instruments and plugins being used with good mixing, or these are cheap instruments and plugins with exceptional mixing. This release is very interesting and fun to listen to. Look at track 7, it's called Chug Chug Wub Wub. You need to hear it.
